How to Play Sesame Street - Elmo's 123s
Quick start
Use left/right on the staircase to choose count, then press A or B. Wait for the starship to stop and count the stars it leaves. Move the answer circle with left/right and confirm with A or B. If the answer is wrong, count again and choose another number.
Controls
Left/right selects an activity, number or group of stars. A or B confirms the choice. On the staircase, A, B, SELECT or START begins the selected activity. During an activity, SELECT or START returns to the staircase menu. Count the whole group before choosing.

The staircase menu leads to counting stars, matching a displayed number, addition and subtraction. The pictures turn each question into something you can count rather than a bare equation. A wrong answer gives another chance to try, making it useful to point to the stars and say the total before choosing. Begin with counting, then move to combining or taking away groups when the number pictures feel familiar.
