How to Play Shanghai Advance

Quick start

Press START, choose Classic Shanghai, then the single-player option and the first stop on the Silk Road map. Remove a pair of matching tiles only when each tile has no tile on top and at least one open side. Work between the top layer and outer edges so every pair exposes more choices instead of creating an early dead end. Clear the entire layout to finish; restart if no legal pair remains. Once comfortable, try Time Attack or the link-cable Communication Shanghai mode. This is the 2001 Sunsoft release, not the later Minna no Soft Series game.

Controls

D-pad moves the cursor across tiles and menus. A confirms and selects the first or second tile of a pair. B clears the current selection or returns to the previous screen. START opens the in-game menu. Only a tile with an uncovered top and at least one free side can be selected. Use the labelled menu for hints or a restart; no undocumented L/R shortcut is asserted.
