How to Play Shantae
Quick start
Start a new game and head right across the bridge during the pirate attack. Watch cannonball shadows and jump the gaps they leave. Climb through Scuttle Town, defeat the pirates and reach Risky’s ship. After the opening battle, visit the town’s save room and bath house, then leave through the gates and travel right toward Water Town.
Controls
D-pad: move; Down crouches, and Down plus Left/Right crawls. A: jump. B: hair whip or talk; hold B while moving to run. Up+B: use the selected item. SELECT: enter or leave dance mode. START: pause and open the subscreen; B switches its item and dance pages.
Shantae — About this game
Fight at close range with Shantae’s hair, leap between platforms and spend collected gems on useful supplies. Dances transform her into creatures such as a monkey or elephant, changing how she climbs and overcomes obstacles. Searching labyrinths also reveals Warp Squids; bringing them back to town helps establish fast travel. Save rooms and bath houses provide places to record progress and recover between journeys.
