Shōgi Meikan '92 — About this game
``Shogi Directory '92'' is a software for the Famicom that allows you to learn the techniques while watching actual shogi records, rather than playing shogi freely against a computer opponent. Supervised by the Japan Shogi Federation, it contains 93 games including the 1990 title game, topical game, women's game, and ranking game, as well as classical music and Komagaku games. In spectator mode, you can watch the progress of each game with automatic feed, or manually check each move. Explanation mode is a system where you can choose your next move from four candidate moves at an important moment and read the evaluation and explanation by a professional Shogi player. Regardless of your choices, the game progresses in the same way as the actual game, and the actual move will not necessarily result in the highest score. By going back and reconsidering the branch you were interested in, you can enjoy a deeper appreciation than just guessing the correct answer.
