How to Play SimCity DS
Quick start
Play Tutorial, then choose Build A City. Draw a road and place small residential, commercial and industrial zones alongside it. Add an affordable power plant, connecting power lines if needed, and a water supply. Use Query to check utilities, then return to the Main Screen to let time pass. Expand after checking funds and demand.
Controls
Use the D-pad to scroll around the city, A or a touch to select a menu option, B to go back/undo, L to change zoom and START to pause. On the Build Sheet, drag a route for roads or power lines and release to build. Drag out a rectangle for zones. For a building, select its square, adjust the position by dragging and release to place it.
SimCity DS — About this game
You begin with empty land and a budget, then decide where people will live, work and shop. Residential, commercial and industrial zones need road access, power and water before a useful layout can grow into a city. Building too much at once can drain the funds needed to support it, so the early challenge is to provide a modest connected foundation and watch the results. The Build Sheet turns the stylus into a planning tool for routes, rectangles and individual buildings. Back on the Main Screen, time passes and Sims move in. Advisors and data displays help diagnose shortages, while Save The City offers a separate disaster challenge when you want a more immediate problem to solve.
