How to Play Smash TV
Quick start
Press START at the title. On MODE SELECT, use Up or Down to choose 1 PLAYER 1 CONTROLLER, then press START. Move with the D-pad and fire with A. After aiming toward enemies, use B to keep firing that way while moving elsewhere. Walk over weapon and shield icons to collect them, watch for mines around prizes, and consult the round's map before choosing your route.
Controls
One controller per player: D-pad moves and aims in eight directions; A fires; B maintains fire in the last firing direction while you move independently. START begins, confirms the selected mode, and pauses or resumes play. Two controllers per player: the first D-pad moves and the second aims and fires; the second contestant uses pads 3 and 4. This mode is designed for holding each pad upright with its D-pad at the top. Two players using four controllers require a compatible Nintendo multiplayer accessory.
Smash TV — About this game
Smash TV drops one or two contestants into a televised arena where cash, prizes and survival compete for your attention. Enemies crowd the rooms, while pickups replace your basic gun with heavier firepower or provide speed and protection. Only one weapon type can be carried at once, but movement and shield bonuses can work alongside it. The route maps help you seek the valuable prize rooms, and the major opponents include Mutoid Man, Scarface and the Cobra Twins. Not every tempting pickup is safe: some prizes conceal mines. The NES version offers a distinctive control choice—use a single pad to move and lock your firing direction, or split movement and shooting between two controllers. A two-player game can use either two or four pads, with the latter arrangement requiring a compatible multiplayer accessory.
