At the title screen, use the Control Pad to choose New Game and press A, then select Easy, Normal or Super-Hero. Easy is the best first run: it starts you with five lives and full web fluid and shows on-screen power-up tips. After the opening story, select a flashing red mission dot on the city map; Downtown is a practical first stop, with the objective to stop the crime wave in Manhattan. Head right, jump towards walls while holding the direction of the surface to cling and climb, then press A again in the air to cast a web rope and swing between rooftops. Pick off the first thug with a running B kick followed by punches. Web moves consume the web-fluid cartridges beside the health meter, so collect the web refills on the early rooftops instead of swinging or shooting continuously. The game records progress as a password; choose Continue on the main menu and enter that password to resume later.

Menus: Control Pad moves the highlight, A confirms, and B goes back; in the password grid, A enters a character and B removes one. Action: Left/Right moves and running builds speed; Down crouches; hold the Control Pad towards a wall or ceiling after jumping to cling and crawl. A jumps, and A again while airborne creates a web rope for swinging. B attacks; running+B gives a quick kick, Up+B on the ground an uppercut, Up+B in the air a spin kick, and Down+B in the air a diving kick. L fires Impact Webbing, R fires Trap/Sticky Webbing, and L+R raises a forward web shield; web actions spend web fluid. SELECT displays collected equipment and START pauses.
