How to Play SpongeBob SquarePants: The Yellow Avenger
Quick start
Start a new game and follow the tutorials in Shady Shoals Rest Home. Leave for Downtown Bikini Bottom, go left into the Residential District and continue left toward Jellyfish Fields. Jump on a bubble-controlled resident, then face the released bubble and hold X or Y to capture it. At the power circle, follow the waterball lesson and trace the symbol when the light runs around it; the power is not active before that step.
Controls
DS: D-pad left/right moves, Down ducks and Up takes a marked junction. B jumps. Hold X or Y to suck in dirty bubbles or jellyfish. With waterball active, A fires and R aims; L stops the active power to conserve bubbles. START pauses. Use touch-screen mission/map icons and contextual interactions; trace the prompted power symbol at the appropriate pad.

SpongeBob SquarePants: The Yellow Avenger mixes platform exploration with errands, conversations and environmental puzzles. SpongeBob travels between districts, changes paths at marked junctions and uses the mission journal to keep track of requests. Dirty bubbles must be separated from their victims and captured, while jellyfish provide restorative jelly. Power pads introduce abilities such as the waterball, with touch-drawn symbols activating the appropriate power. Using these abilities wisely helps cross barriers and reach new places, rather than turning every encounter into a normal punch fight. The DS lower screen also holds maps, tasks and object interactions, giving exploration a different rhythm from a straightforward stage-by-stage action game.
