How to Play Square no Tom Sawyer
Quick start
If you are playing the title for the first time, select START, adjust the text speed, and start. Use the cross button to make Tom walk, and use A to speak in front of people. Pressing B on the normal screen opens the command ``Search, Take, Hole, Item'', select it with the crosshairs, press A to execute, and press B to return. When you meet enemies in the forest or river, decide on each person's ``fight'', ``hits'', ``item'', etc. For special moves, first set the name and participants in "Hisatsu Move" on the status screen, and use it when you are sufficiently pushed. When saving, we go into a tent instead of a house and use the "tent" as a tool.
Controls
Normal screen: Use the cross button to move/operate the cursor, A to talk or make a selection, B to display or cancel commands, SELECT to display the status screen, press SELECT and START to reset. Battle screen: Select the displayed command using the up and down arrows, press A to confirm, and press B to return to the previous state. Pressing A and B at the same time will reset. The normal commands are ``take'', ``search'', ``hole'', and ``item''. On the item screen, select a person and a tool, press A to open ``Use/Waste/Know/Show'', and press B to cancel. CONTINUE in the START menu changes the text speed from the save point, START from the beginning, and SPEED changes the text speed by using the left and right arrows.
Square no Tom Sawyer — About this game
``Tom Sawyer on Square'' is an RPG based on the story of Mark Twain, in which Tom and his friends travel across America in pursuit of a kidnapped Jim. Towns and forests are drawn with a combination of side-scrolling and top-down maps, and the adventure is supported by conversations inside the house, exploration by digging in the ground, and swapping of friends and tools. The lineup of your four-person party is not fixed, and you can send friends you meet home or add new people. Instead of a general experience point level system, the system is such that your abilities will gradually increase each time you win a battle, and the characters with the highest QP will act first. There is also a special move where you can set the name and participating members yourself, and if successful, you can attack all enemies, but if you use it too early or on the first turn of the battle, it will fail.
