How to Play Star Trek Tactical Assault
Quick start
Start the Federation campaign and follow Shakedown’s navigation, scan and communication prompts. Hail a contact before firing, then practise the weapon test when ordered. Watch shield condition and weapon readiness while turning.
Controls
Up/down change speed and left/right turn. B fires the primary weapon, A the secondary, X scans and Y hails. L changes target or breaks lock; R+X uses shield recharge or cloak, R+Y warp, R+B/A overcharge weapons. SELECT opens alerts, START pauses; touch panels also provide ship commands.
Star Trek Tactical Assault — About this game
Star Trek Tactical Assault puts you in command of a starship during Federation and Klingon campaigns. Missions combine navigation, communication and combat, and some situations can be settled through dialogue instead of opening fire. During a fight, turn the ship to bring weapons into range while protecting damaged shield sections and waiting for weapons to recharge. Your crew can be improved, giving later decisions more weight than simply selecting a larger ship. Start with the Federation training mission, practise hailing and scanning, and follow its navigation instructions before entering combat. The DS touch-screen panels provide an alternative to the full button commands.
