How to Play Street Fighter Alpha
Quick start
Begin in Training with a fighter whose range you can learn. Try both attack buttons with short taps and longer presses, then practice crouching and blocking by holding away from the opponent. Choose Arcade when ready; automatic guard provides a useful introduction, and A+B triggers its super combo when the gauge is full.
Controls
D-pad: move, crouch or jump; hold away from the opponent to guard. A/B are the two punch and kick attack buttons; tap or hold briefly for different strengths. Combine directional motions with attacks for special moves. In automatic guard, press A+B with a full gauge for a super combo. SELECT taunts; START pauses. Forward and backward reverse when you change sides.

The GBC adaptation condenses punches and kicks into two buttons, with a quick tap and a longer press producing different attack strengths. Special-move inputs are simplified, but spacing, crouching, jumping and guarding still shape every exchange. Choose manual or automatic guard before taking on the arcade ladder, or use training to practice motions and timing. With automatic guard, a full gauge allows a super combo through A and B together. Learn safe approaches and vary your attacks as the computer opponents become harder.
