How to Play Summon Night: Swordcraft Story 2
Quick start
Choose New Game from the main title menu, select Edgar or Aera, enter a name, and choose one of the four Guardian Beasts during the prologue. When you gain control, go downstairs, then take the first path north from the craft house to Monument Square; return to the craft house to receive your first weapon. On Day 1, visit Ryouga in the southernmost house, return toward the opening area and take the first left north for the Tonka Tank fight. Use a three-hit attack string, then jump over its shells. After the scenes, return to Monument Square and the craft house, enter the forest through the village's west gate, and open the chest one screen south for a Sword Shapestone. Forge the Amateur Knife, use L or R in the field to select it and cut the grass, then collect and forge the Axe Shapestone to clear tree stumps. Watch DUR and save before bosses.
Controls
Field and menus: Control Pad moves and changes selections, A confirms/talks and uses the currently selected field tool or weapon, B cancels and runs while held with a direction, START opens the menu, and SELECT speaks with the Guardian Beast. L or R cycles field weapons so swords cut grass, axes clear stumps, drills break cracked walls, knuckles move boulders, and spears open distant chests. Battle: Left/Right moves, Up jumps, double-tap Left/Right dashes, double-tap Down backsteps, A attacks, and B uses the selected guard, spell or item. L cycles up to three equipped weapons, R cycles the action list, and START pauses. Direction+A and held-A attacks vary by weapon.
