How to Play Super Cars

Quick start

At the main screen, use the hand pointer to inspect your car, visit the garage or select a track. For a first attempt, follow the displayed track order because the later circuits become harder. Hold B to accelerate and steer with Left/Right; release B before a tight bend to slow into a handbrake-style turn. Your immediate goal is third place or better, not a risky pass that destroys the car. Watch the four bottom meters for tires, engine, fuel and body, and approach oil patches straight rather than turning across them. After every successful race, repair and refuel before buying optional upgrades. Save money for power steering or a better car, while keeping a missile for a rival directly in front of or behind you. Record the password awarded after a completed level.

Controls

During a race, hold B to accelerate and use D-pad Left/Right to steer. Releasing B while continuing to steer produces a handbrake-style turn. If purchased, fire the one-use front missile with Up+A and the rear missile with Down+A. When trapped beneath a bridge and unsure which way the car faces, press SELECT to highlight it and reorient. Menus use a hand pointer to choose tracks, cars, the sales office, garage items and Exit. The verified manual does not assign a normal brake button or a race function to START, so neither is invented here.

Super Cars — About this game

Super Cars is a single-player overhead racer built around an entire season rather than isolated time trials. Each level contains nine circuits filled with sharp bends, straights, tunnels, bridges, oil slicks and aggressive rivals, and you may attempt those tracks in any order. A first-, second- or third-place finish clears the event and pays prize money; finish lower and the run ends. Your fuel, tires, engine and body all deteriorate while racing, with skids and collisions accelerating the damage. Between events, the garage restores those four essentials and sells power steering, a turbo charger, a higher top-speed kit, improved braking, spin recovery, side armor and single-use front or rear missiles. Earnings can also be traded toward a faster but harder-to-handle car. Clear all nine races to receive a larger bonus, advance to a tougher level and earn a password for returning later.
