How to Play Super Puzzle Fighter II
Quick start
Press Start at the title screen. New players can choose Training Demo to watch Dan explain the rules, then return with Start and select Arcade, Easy, and a character for a three-opponent first run. Move each falling gem pair into place, connect same-coloured gems into larger Power Gems, and touch them with a matching Crash Gem to break them and send Counter Gems to the opponent. Keep the fourth column clear: if a new pair cannot enter there, you lose. Use Down while lining up a piece and Up only when the final quick-drop position is safe.
Controls
D-Pad moves gems left/right; Down drops them faster while retaining control, and Up performs a quick drop. A rotates clockwise and confirms menus; B rotates anticlockwise and cancels. Start begins and pauses. Select taunts once per round and opens the menu while paused. L and R are used by the split-control single-system VS mode; Player 1 uses Left/Right/L and Player 2 uses A/B/R. The default buttons can be changed under Option Mode's Button setting.
