How to Play Swamp Thing
Quick start
Press START to begin. Move with Left/Right and use A to jump; holding it longer gives a higher jump. Try B for punches, or moss projectiles once supplied. Watch your energy. At a suitable transformation object, use Up to change form and SELECT to return. Keep at least two energy ticks before transforming.
Controls
Left/Right walks; Down crouches. A jumps, with longer holds giving more height; keeping A held after a jump increases walking speed. A also shakes the tree form and advances text. B punches or throws swamp moss. Up activates transformations at suitable objects; SELECT restores Swamp Thing's normal form. START starts, pauses/resumes and skips movie sequences.
Swamp Thing — About this game
Swamp Thing follows a transformed Alec Holland as he tries to stop Dr. Anton Arcane from exploiting a bio-restorative formula. The NES adventure combines platform jumping with close-range punches and collected swamp-moss projectiles. Energy-restoring beakers and other pickups help you survive encounters with Arcane's forces. Transformations add another layer to exploration: suitable objects let Swamp Thing take other forms, reaching places or supplies that ordinary movement cannot. Changing form costs energy, while becoming a flower can restore it. You need to judge jumps, manage your remaining energy and make use of the environment rather than simply attack every threat.
