How to Play Taito Chase H.Q.

Quick start

Press START on the title to proceed to the pre-mission settings screen. I chose AT until I got used to shifting, and checked the response of the steering wheel before setting off. When proceeding from settings to driving, do not press and hold START; press it briefly. Once you start running, press A to accelerate and avoid the regular cars on the left and right. At sharp turns, ease up on A or slow down on B, and once you catch up with the getaway car, try to ram it from behind or from the side. SELECT's turbo can only be used a limited number of times, so it's safe to leave it in situations where it's needed.

Controls

Left and right: Handle operation. Up/down: Gear change when MT is selected. A: Axel. B: Brake. SELECT: Turbo/Nitro acceleration with limited number of times. START: Starts with the title, and is also used to return to the spot after the time is up and to continue. There is no pause function while running. If you want to stop and think about the settings, do so on the parts selection screen between stages. To attack the criminal car, approach it and hit the car body.

Taito Chase H.Q. — About this game

"Taito Chase H.Q." is a car action game for the Famicom in which the player chases down a runaway criminal on roads where regular cars run. The mission progresses in two stages: first catch up to the target car within the time limit, then ram the vehicle to damage it and stop it. If you only aim for speed, you will be significantly delayed by curves and obstacles, so the decision to ease off on the accelerator and the brakes are also important. Before the stage, you can choose the transmission method and steering wheel response, and as you proceed, you can purchase parts using the scores you have earned. It's fun to switch between chasing and attacking while distinguishing between distance and damage displays. Use the turbo, which has a limited number of times, to recover from deceleration.
