How to Play Tanigawa Kōji no Shōgi Shinan II: Meijin e no Michi
Quick start
First, choose the mode that best suits your purpose: game, Tsume Shogi, or next move. Move the finger cursor on the board using the cross keys, hold the piece with A, and press A again at the destination to place it. The display of whether it will happen or not will also be determined by A. If you want to cancel after you have a piece, press B to return it to its original position. If it's your first time playing, you can get used to the controls by playing a game, and then move on to the easier Tsume Shogi, which will make it easier to get the hang of the game.
Controls
D-pad: Move the finger cursor on the board, the menu, and the arrow of the next move. A: Holding/placing a piece, deciding whether it will become a piece or not, deciding on items and answers. B: Return the pieces you have to their original positions or return to the previous problem. For Tsume Shogi and the next move, follow the instructions on the screen to choose a candidate move.
Tanigawa Kōji no Shōgi Shinan II: Meijin e no Michi — About this game
``Koji Tanigawa's Shogi Instruction II: The Road to Becoming a Master'' is a shogi software for the Famicom that combines regular game play and shogi skill learning into one. In the match mode, you will advance against five players, and at the end you will advance to a match against an opponent modeled after Koji Tanigawa 9-dan. Furthermore, it includes 40 questions of Tsume Shogi that become progressively more difficult from 6th grade to the equivalent of 1st dan, and 20 questions of ``next move'' in which candidate moves are selected and scored in succession. In addition to simply defeating the CPU, you can repeatedly practice late-game blockages and situational judgment.
