How to Play Tecmo World Cup Soccer
Quick start
Select the single-player version and decide which representative from the 16 countries will be operating the game. At first, use the A button to pass short kicks to your teammates, then use the directional keys to aim precisely at the receiver. To carry the ball far, press the B button for a strong kick, and when your opponent has the ball, press the A button to slide to steal it. Defensive players are automatically selected, so the trick is to quickly check the highlighted player's position.
Controls
Use the direction keys to move the highlighted player in 8 directions, and also specify the direction of the kick. When holding the ball, press the A button for a short, low kick, and press the B button for a strong, high kick. When defending without the ball, press the A button to perform a sliding tackle. When near the goal, the keeper automatically becomes the target of control, and close balls are automatically handled. The START button pauses the match, and for two players, the SELECT button selects the match time.

"Tecmo World Cup Soccer" is an arcade-like soccer game where you look down on the pitch and move the players directly. In the single-player game, you choose your country from 16 countries, including Spain, Italy, West Germany, France, Japan, Brazil, and Argentina, and aim to become number one in the world by winning matches against the remaining 15 countries. When in possession of the ball, use short kicks and strong kicks, and when defending, automatically move the selected player to take the ball by sliding. In a two-player match, you can choose the match time, and you can restart the match with a password.
