How to Play Tetris DS
Quick start
Choose Single Player → Standard → Marathon and start at a low level. Open How to Play for the mode’s tutorial. Move and rotate pieces to fill complete rows, leaving room to work near the top. Use the ghost piece to check a landing before hard dropping, and try Hold when a piece does not fit your plan. START pauses. Scores save automatically when a game ends.
Controls
In Standard and other falling-piece modes, left/right moves the piece, down soft-drops and up hard-drops when enabled in Options. A rotates clockwise and B counterclockwise. L/R hold or swap the piece, with one hold use before the next piece locks. START pauses single-player play. Touch mode uses stylus dragging and rotation gestures; Puzzle selects a piece and orientation before it falls automatically. Check How to Play because Touch and Catch have different rules.
Tetris DS — About this game
Tetris DS builds on filling horizontal rows without gaps, then changes the challenge across six modes. Standard offers familiar falling-block play; Push turns line clears into a struggle over a shared field. Touch lets the stylus rearrange a stack, while Puzzle asks you to choose from limited pieces. Mission introduces specific objectives and Catch has you steer a core into falling blocks. Nintendo characters and themes give each mode its own setting, but reading the field and planning the next move remain the common skills.
