How to Play The Blues Brothers
Quick start
At the title screen, press SELECT until Jake, Elwood, or both heroes stand, then press START. Your goal in every chapter is to reach its EXIT. Begin by testing short and high jumps—holding A increases height—and hold B when you need faster movement. Use Down to crouch, Down plus a direction to crawl, and Down+A to pass through designated floors. Kick eggs laid by birds or spiders toward enemies instead of touching them. Music notes restore energy and hearts grant lives. In two-player mode, remain close enough for both heroes to stay safe and press SELECT if the camera needs to follow the other brother.
Controls
D-pad Left/Right: move; Down: crouch; Down+Left/Right: crawl; Up/Down on a ladder: climb. A: jump, with greater height when held; direction+A performs a running jump. Down+A passes through certain floors. Hold B to accelerate most movement. START: begin or pause. SELECT: choose Jake, Elwood, or both at the title screen; in two-player play, switch which hero the camera follows. Land on a dog or snake to ride it, steer with Left/Right, and press A to dismount. Kick eggs into enemies to defeat them.
The Blues Brothers — About this game
The Blues Brothers is a five-chapter NES platform game in which Jake and Elwood race to reach their concert after Sheriff McGraw sabotages every route. The journey passes through a shopping mall, warehouse, prison, sewers, and a dangerous construction site. Players run, crouch, crawl, climb, swim, ride animals, and use eggs against enemies while searching for each level exit. Music notes restore one energy bubble and hearts add lives. Two-player mode places both brothers in the same scrolling stage, so partners must stay coordinated and can switch which hero the camera follows.
