Press START and advance the opening dialogue with A or B. Begin Stage 1 with Fred: move right, club the first enemies, and hold A while falling beside a ledge so Fred catches it, then press Up to climb. When you reach the narrow overhead pole, press SELECT to change to Barney and use his lighter body to cross it. Swap back whenever a charged club strike or broad ledge grab is needed. Break barrels for food, hearts, burgers, milkshakes, stars, and sub-weapons. Hold B to charge Fred’s club and release near tougher enemies; use Up+B for a collected axe or bowling ball. Follow the world-map path and secure the five gemstones needed to fly toward Dinosaur Peak.

D-pad: move Fred or Barney in four directions; Up also enters doors or climbs after catching a ledge. A: jump; hold A while falling near a ledge to hang on, then press Up to climb. B: attack—Fred swings his club and can hold/release B to charge it; Barney fires his slingshot. Up+B: use the current sub-weapon, consuming its meter. SELECT: switch between Fred and Barney. START: begin or pause. Barney can hang from and move along narrow poles or vines that Fred cannot use as effectively. In the pterodactyl flight section, steer with the D-pad and press B to blast rocks.
