How to Play Kiwi Kraze
Quick start
Use SELECT to choose one or two players. In the first level, move with the D-pad, jump with A and fire ahead with B while looking for the captured kiwi. Shoot a balloon's rider rather than the balloon itself if you want to use it. Jump onto the empty balloon; hold A to rise and release A to descend. Press START if you need to pause and inspect the map. If you enter water, watch your air and return to the surface.
Controls
D-pad: move while running, jumping, riding a balloon or swimming. A: jump; while on a balloon, hold A to rise and release it to fall. B: fire a weapon, or spit water at the surface. You cannot jump or shoot underwater. START: pause and show the map, then continue. SELECT: choose one or two players. Starting arrows travel straight ahead, not upward or downward. Avoid spikes and do not burst a balloon you need to ride.
Kiwi Kraze — About this game
The NewZealand Story follows Tiki after Wally Walrus carries off his kiwi friends, including Phee-Phee. This NES adventure spans five worlds with four levels each, combining jumping, forward-firing weapons, swimming and stolen balloons. Tiki cannot fly on his own: defeat a balloon rider without bursting the balloon, then jump aboard and control its height to reach new routes. Fruit, hidden rooms and useful items reward exploration, but spikes and enemy weapons are dangerous, and lingering brings the Time Keeper. Underwater, Tiki cannot jump or fire normally and must watch a limited air meter. Surfacing restores air and lets him spit water. START pauses the game and reveals a map, helping you work through the maze toward another captive.
