How to Play The Punisher
Quick start
Press START and keep moving as the background scrolls. Use the D-pad to reposition Frank and line up the cursor; hold or tap A to fire the current weapon, then use the D-pad to sweep the crosshairs while Frank remains stationary. Release fire whenever incoming shots make standing still dangerous. Press B to throw a grenade at clustered enemies or hard targets, but watch the limited grenade count. Shoot useful objects as they appear to collect ammunition, med kits, armour and upgraded weapons. Prioritise enemies who have already raised a gun, then clear attackers hiding at the edges before the screen carries you onward. START pauses and resumes; SELECT has no normal function.
Controls
D-pad alone: move the Punisher and the aiming cursor together. D-pad while firing with A: move only the crosshairs while the Punisher stands still. A: fire the current weapon. B: throw a grenade. START: pause and restart or resume the game. SELECT: no normal function.
The Punisher — About this game
The Punisher is an over-the-shoulder NES shooting game that sends Frank Castle through automatically scrolling urban battlefields on his war against organized crime. The D-pad normally moves both the Punisher and his aiming cursor, but firing locks Frank in place while the crosshairs continue to track targets. Enemies emerge from windows, corners and the open street, forcing quick target selection and careful grenade use. Shootable pickups supply ammunition, stronger firearms, rockets, grenades, medical kits and Kevlar protection. Each operation culminates in dangerous criminals and supervillains, with Kingpin waiting at the end of the campaign.
