How to Play The Rocketeer
Quick start
Press START at the logo. On the hangar screen, press Left to choose START, then A to begin Chapter 1. Practise moving, jumping with A and attacking with B. Use SELECT to choose a weapon you can afford to fire. With fuel available, press A to jump and press A again before the top of the leap to activate the pack. Steer with the Control Pad and watch the fuel meter.
Controls
Left/Right moves; Down kneels. A jumps and B uses the selected weapon, including the no-ammunition fist. SELECT cycles available weapons; START pauses and resumes. To fly with fuel, jump with A and press A again before reaching the top of the jump, then steer with the Control Pad. To stop, press A again and then Down. Fuel exhaustion or enemy fire also stops flight. In story scenes, hold A to speed up text or press START to skip.
The Rocketeer — About this game
The Rocketeer is a side-scrolling NES adventure in which pilot Cliff Secord must protect a stolen rocket pack and rescue Jenny from Neville Sinclair. Six chapters combine ground combat, platforming and fuel-limited flight, with story scenes linking the action. Cliff can punch without spending ammunition or select guns and heavier weapons that draw different amounts from a shared bullet supply. Finding fuel, health and ammunition helps him survive, but the rocket pack does not remove the danger of gaps: running dry or taking enemy fire can bring a flight to an abrupt end.
