How to Play The Three Stooges

Quick start

Choose one or two players with SELECT or Up/Down, then press START or A. At the map, watch Moe’s hand and press A when it reaches the job you want; the cursor accelerates as the campaign continues. Every job uses its own directional rules, but A is consistently the main action or confirmation button: scoop crackers, throw pies, answer trivia or combine it with a direction during the slap fight. In the hospital, use all four directions to steer and regulate speed. Aim to reach at least $5,000 within 30 days, avoid banker and mousetrap spaces, and use the Slapping Game well because more successful blows slow the next map selection.

Controls

SELECT or D-pad Up/Down on the title screen: choose one or two players. START or A: begin; START pauses and resumes. On the map, A stops Moe’s hand to select a space. Cracker contest: D-pad moves the spoon, A scoops. Hospital: Up accelerates, Down slows, Left/Right steer. Pie fight: D-pad chooses a Stooge and A throws; Up ducks Moe, Left/Right ducks Curly, Down ducks Larry. Slapping Game: Left/Right faces a target; direction plus A performs the corresponding punch, slap, poke or kick. Trivia: D-pad selects an answer, A confirms.

The Three Stooges — About this game

The Three Stooges is a one- or two-player NES collection of short challenges built around a 30-day race to save Ma’s orphanage. Each turn begins on a Stoogeville map where Moe’s moving hand selects the next job or event. Money can come from scooping crackers away from oysters, racing hospital corridors, serving pies, helping Curly through a boxing match, or answering Stooge trivia, while banker, mousetrap and other map spaces waste days or cash. The slap-fight interlude earns no money but slows the map cursor, making later job choices easier. The final outcome depends on the total collected before time or Moe’s fingers run out.
