How to Play The Triathron
Quick start
Once you have chosen a swimmer, first change direction to the left and right during the swim, press B repeatedly to increase speed, and press A to take frequent breaths. Don't stay still and avoid jellyfish and swirls. On a bike, you adjust your course by turning left and right, and accelerate by hitting B repeatedly, but if you go too fast, you won't be able to take the curve, so you need to look at branch points and other riders early and take your course. During the run, change the running position by pressing up and down, accelerate by pressing B repeatedly, and jump over holes and obstacles by pressing A. Use SELECT to check the course map, current location, remaining stamina, and time, and prioritize recovery items to ensure you have enough stamina to pass through the three events.
Controls
Swim: Turn with the left and right arrow buttons, accelerate by pressing B repeatedly, and take a breath with A. Run: Change running position by pressing up and down on the cross button, accelerate by pressing B repeatedly, and jump by pressing A. SELECT: Switch to display the course map, current position, remaining stamina, and time. START: Pause during the game.
The Triathron — About this game
``The Triathlon'' is a sports game for the Famicom in which players complete three events: swimming, biking, and running as one continuous race. Control your chosen athlete and travel to tournaments around the world, aiming for the last place in Hawaii. The screen structure and controls change depending on the event, with turning and breathing being important in swimming, corners and branches in cycling, and jumping over potholes and mines in running. Stamina is shared between the three events, and will be greatly reduced by contact or falling, so you need to maintain a reasonable speed while monitoring recovery items and time limits. After the run, players can improve their abilities with points based on their performance, and special stages that are different from the regular course are also available.
