How to Play Thunderbirds: International Rescue

Quick start

At the TRACY ISLAND title menu, choose START GAME for a new rescue; ENTER PASSWORD is the route back to a later mission, while EXAMINE DATABASE provides the cast and craft reference. Read the opening story and mission briefing: the first assignment sends Thunderbird 1 to the oil plant, where you must destroy the radar dishes before the missile defences can lock on. Follow the introductory training rather than skipping it, because later craft use different viewpoints and functions; keep the countdown and the damage bar in view, clear the marked targets, and avoid wasting health on the oil plant's defences. Subsequent missions branch into flying and driving, Thunderbird 2's overhead navigation, on-foot run-and-jump sections, rescues and sub-aqua work, so re-check each briefing when control changes.

Controls

Menus and text: use the Control Pad to move the highlight, A to select or continue, and B to return. Action stages: use the Control Pad to steer the current Thunderbird vehicle or move the on-foot International Rescue operative; A and B provide the current stage's primary and secondary actions, with Thunderbird 1 centred on firing in its side-scrolling shooter stages and the platform sections adding run-and-jump play. Press SELECT during Thunderbird 2 stages to open its map, and START to pause or resume. The surviving online GBA material does not expose a trustworthy universal A-versus-B table for all eight vehicles, and no dependable L/R function was found, so use each introductory prompt when the vehicle changes rather than assuming one layout applies to every mode.
