How to Play To the Earth
Quick start
First check that your emulator supports this game's Zapper aiming and trigger input; if it does not, the game cannot be played correctly. No mouse, touch or keyboard mapping is assumed here. On an original NES, connect the Zapper to port 2 and a standard controller to port 1 for pausing. Pull the Zapper trigger to begin. Aim carefully at the enemy ships and incoming missiles: hits on enemies restore energy, but misses cost it. When a friendly ship crosses the screen, shoot the F at the lower left rather than the ship. Shoot a comet for a shield. If the Smart Bomb indicator appears at the lower right, shoot the indicator when several ordinary enemies are present. At CONTINUE, pull the trigger to restart the current level.
Controls
Zapper, connected to controller port 2 on the NES: aim at the screen and pull the trigger to shoot, start the game or respond to CONTINUE. Shoot the lower-right Smart Bomb indicator to use an earned bomb; shoot the lower-left F target for friendly resupply and a comet for a barrier. Controller 1 START: pause; press again to resume. A, B and the directional pad are not substitutes for Zapper aiming and firing. Browser play needs explicit Zapper emulation; its pointer or trigger mapping must be provided by the emulator and is not verified here.
To the Earth — About this game
In To the Earth, a biological attack threatens humanity and the spaceship Tempest must gather minerals across Uranus, Saturn, Jupiter and Earth to prepare a cure. This is a Zapper shooting game rather than a controller-steered space shooter: aim at the approaching ships and their missiles as the journey unfolds. Destroying enemies restores energy, while missed shots and enemy impacts drain it, so uncontrolled firing can end a run quickly. A passing friendly ship provides an F target that replenishes energy, but shooting the ship itself is harmful. Comets can provide a protective barrier, and a successful streak at full energy can earn a Smart Bomb activated by shooting its screen indicator. Each destination ends in a tougher boss that the bomb cannot simply erase. Online play requires working Zapper emulation; ordinary keyboard or gamepad controls alone do not replace the required aiming device, and browser compatibility is not confirmed here.
