Press START at the title, use Up/Down to highlight New Game, and press A; Continue is only for entering a password from an earlier run. After the story, Tom begins the first Dog Army Camp mission. Explore both vertically and horizontally, collect all 30 golden dog bones, and climb every flagpole to turn its flag from red to green. The last flag enables a switch: hit it, climb the newly available ladder, operate the switches above, then follow the blue moving platforms to the yellow platform, defeat the guard dog, and activate the next switch. Watch each switch's color because it tells you which platforms now move. Save the password shown after clearing the level; the cartridge uses passwords rather than a save file.

D-Pad Left/Right walks and controls Tom while gliding after a jump; Up climbs and Down slides down. B jumps. A attacks with the current club; hold A beside a flame to light the club, then use it before it burns out to ignite explosives. L throws cheese and R throws the club. START pauses. In the main menu, Up/Down highlights New Game, Continue, or Credits and A selects. SELECT has no function listed in the official control diagram.
