At the main menu, set the first row to Career, choose a skater on the second row, select CA College on the third row, and press START to enter the level. Career has no overall two-minute clock: explore until you find a pedestrian, skate next to them, and press L to accept a timed goal. Begin with CA College's tutorial goal, Freshman Year: The Ollie. Hold B to crouch and build speed, then release it near the top of the staircase to clear the steps; the follow-up prompt asks for a Fastplant or Boneless, so hold B, tap Up twice, and release B. The next lessons cover grinds, basic air, manuals, and finally a 10,000-point combo, making them the best route before larger score, S-K-A-T-E, C-O-M-B-O, tape, and competition goals. After making progress, press START and choose Main Menu or Skate Shop to trigger a save; Options > Save Games also manages four save slots.

Main menu: Up/Down changes rows, Left/Right changes the selected setting, START begins with the chosen mode/skater/level, and B returns to the previous menu. Skating starts automatically; Left/Right turns, Down slows or stops, and Down+Left/Right makes a sharp turn. Hold B to crouch and gain speed, then release B to ollie. In the air, direction+L performs a flip trick, direction+R performs a grab, and Left/Right spins the skater. Press A near a rail, kerb, ramp lip, or edge to grind; hold A plus a direction at a ramp lip for a lip trick. Up-Down or Down-Up begins a manual; balance it with Up/Down. Press R on landing from vert to revert, and L+R in the air over back-to-back quarter pipes to spine transfer or level out. On the ground, R changes to switch stance; L enters nollie, or fakie when already skating switch. For a wallride, ollie towards a wall at an angle, hold the opposite direction, and hold A. When the Special Meter turns red, use the special combination assigned under Skate Shop > Edit Tricks; flatland tricks require a manual with a full meter. Beside a pedestrian, L receives a Career goal. START pauses; the pause menu can retry/cancel the goal, view goals or tricks, visit the Skate Shop, or return to the Main Menu. After a bail, rapidly press A, B, L, and R together for quick recovery.
