How to Play Top Gun
Quick start
Start the campaign, read the first briefing and practise turning and throttle adjustment before the first attack run.
Controls
Control Pad climbs, dives and banks; X/Y adjust throttle. B locks and fires guided missiles, A fires the cannon, R cycles targets and L fires unguided rockets; use the lower-screen radar to orient yourself.
Top Gun — About this game
Fly combat sorties with Maverick’s fellow pilots in the DS flight-action game. Begin the campaign, read the target briefing and practise a wide bank while checking the lower-screen radar. Adjust throttle before lining up an attack so that the target stays in view long enough for a lock. Guided missiles need that lock, whereas the Vulcan cannon and unguided rockets ask you to keep your aim on the enemy’s path. Cycle targets rather than chasing the first marker while another objective is closer. Replaying a mission in Single Mission mode gives a way to learn its route and attack order. The three-dimensional flight view and button controls belong to this DS release.
