How to Play Ty the Tasmanian Tiger 3: Night of the Quinkan

Quick start

At the title screen choose NEW GAME, then use the D-pad and A to select one of the three save slots. After the opening, Intro Level begins inside the Quinkan stronghold in the Dreaming. Advance Julius's messages with A, move to the right and follow the tutorial: first practise the A-button jump, then use the prompted two-rang glide/ledge grab to clear the high platforms. Your first mission is to cross the castle, fight through the Quinkan, reach its weak point, plant Julius's Vortex Bomb and escape. Pick up opals on the route; thrown rangs are safest at a distance, while Ty's bite is the close-range option. Later, spend opals on elemental or utility rangs only when a mission needs their effect.

Controls

D-pad: move Ty and move the cursor in menus. A: accept a menu choice, advance dialogue and jump; the opening tutorial also introduces a two-rang glide/ledge grab for reaching high platforms. B: go back or cancel on the save and option screens. Ty can bite at close range and throw or upgrade boomerangs, and the GBA version later changes format for side-scrolling Gunyip and top-down Chopper missions. A readable public GBA button table was not found, so the field assignments for those attacks, L, R, SELECT, START and vehicle-specific actions are deliberately not guessed; follow each in-game prompt rather than using the different PS2, GameCube or Xbox controls.
