How to Play Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume
Quick start
Start New Game and follow the opening battle at Aullewyn Keep Gates. Move Wylfred and Ancel near the same enemy so they can assist, then initiate with the stronger guest Heugoe or Gwendal. Press the participants' displayed face buttons to chain their attacks. Approach the Ghoul with the group together rather than sending Wylfred alone. After victory, save on the world map; Enter the garrison advances the prologue.
Controls
DS buttons: D-pad moves the cursor; A confirms a position or command and B cancels an uncommitted choice. Y cycles available units on the grid. L/R rotates the battlefield and SELECT changes zoom. During an attack, use the A/B/X/Y assignments shown for the participating characters; watch remaining attacks and the gauge. This DS game uses button controls rather than stylus input.

Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume follows Wylfred through a tactical campaign shaped by revenge and sacrifice. Movement uses a grid, but attacking switches to a shared encounter in which every ally within range can join. Each participant is assigned a face button, letting you time strikes and build the attack gauge toward a Soul Crush. Positioning matters even after a unit has acted, since it can still assist another attack. Later battles set Sin targets that reward damage beyond an enemy's remaining life. The Destiny Plume grants a huge temporary advantage at the cost of an ally's life, and its use helps shape the story's routes. These decisions make a quick victory carry consequences beyond the current map.
