How to Play Where in Time Is Carmen Sandiego?
Quick start
Sign in and read the chief’s briefing carefully, noting the theft’s location, date, and the suspect’s gender. At the first scene, choose Search and question the witness and informant; use the scanner only when their clues are insufficient because every action consumes hours. Write down both destination and identity clues. Check historical terms in the supplied encyclopedia, then open Travel and choose the only place-and-era pair that fits. As soon as two or more strong identity traits point to one dossier, enter them under Data, choose Compute, and confirm that a warrant was issued before closing on the hideout.
Controls
D-pad: move the Chronoskimmer pointer among front-panel buttons, search sources, travel destinations, dossier entries, and evidence choices. A or B: select the highlighted button or option; the two buttons are interchangeable throughout the game. During the Chronoskimmer boot countdown, tapping A speeds the sequence. To leave the Evidence Database, move the pointer to another front-panel function and press A or B.
Where in Time Is Carmen Sandiego? — About this game
Where in Time Is Carmen Sandiego? is an educational detective game that turns world history into a timed pursuit. Each case begins with a stolen historical treasure, its place and era, and the culprit’s gender. From the Chronoskimmer 325i, use Search to question a witness, consult an informant, or scan the scene for clues about the thief’s next destination and identity. Travel choices combine locations with time periods, so clues about an event, ruler, invention, author, or artist must be checked against the included reference book and destination notes. Identity clues cover sex, hair, eyes, favorite artist, and favorite author. Enter them in the Evidence Database and choose Compute until only one of sixteen dossiers matches; the resulting warrant activates the Capture Robot. Reaching the hideout without the correct warrant, taking a wrong jump, or spending too long investigating can cost the case.
