How to Play イース
Quick start
Press START on the title, and if it's your first time, select "Start" and start with START. First, bump into the townspeople and listen to their stories, then press A to advance the sentence. To equip, open the item screen from SELECT, open an item such as a sword with A, select it with up or down, close the sub window with B and equip it. Use SELECT to return to exploration and fight against reasonable enemies. To record, select SELECT → "Game" → "Save" with A, and confirm "Yes" with A.
Controls
Cross key: Move up/down/left/right. Conversation occurs when you touch a person, and battle occurs when you touch an enemy. A: Conversation sending, deciding on restaurants and menus. B: Use the equipped tool on the normal screen, return the child window on the item screen. SELECT: Switch between normal screen and item screen. On the item screen, use the top and bottom buttons to select items and equipment candidates, and press A to open the item. Weapons and armor can be equipped by selecting a candidate and closing with B. START: Pause on the normal screen, start on the title or start selection screen. START is not used on the item screen. To save/load, select A from the "Game" item and answer the confirmation question.
イース — About this game
This is the Famicom version of ``Ys'', in which adventurer Adol crosses a storm to Esteria and travels in pursuit of monsters that suddenly appear and the mysteries of the island. Listen to the stories of people in towns and villages, prepare your equipment, and expand your exploration into forests, temples, and caves. Combat with enemies is not done by pressing buttons to swing a sword, but by moving and touching the opponent. It is important to devise ways of conflict, gain experience points, and grow while moving forward. Bought weapons and armor have no effect just by having them; they must be equipped on the item screen. You can stop and recover your life force in towns and fields, but there are some places where it doesn't recover in the same way, so it's important to prepare before going deeper. Memorize the clues you get from conversations, record your adventures, and gradually venture into dangerous areas.
