At the title screen choose NEW GAME and press A. Enter a name of up to eight letters with the D-pad and A; B erases, L/R moves the input cursor, and START moves to OK before A saves the name. After the movie, speak with Joey and Yugi, then meet Ishizu in Domino Plaza: the Millennium Puzzle and the other Millennium Items are missing, and your first story destination is the Egyptian Exhibition via Domino Station. Before leaving, press R in front of weaker townspeople to duel, earn Domino and raise Deck Capacity, then visit Grandpa's Toy Shop to improve the starter deck. Return to your room to save and restore Life Points; avoid the optional early Rebecca duel at Kaiba Corporation until the deck is stronger.

D-pad: move on the map, move cursors and select menu items or cards; hold B while walking to move twice as fast. A: confirm menus, commands and cards, advance long messages, or talk to the character in front. B: cancel/return; during a duel it opens the Sub-Menu. R: challenge the character directly ahead on the map; in a duel, view the opponent's hand information. L: show the next card-information page in Deck/Trunk; hold it in a duel to show a card's ATK/DEF. START: open the map menu or the Deck sort-order menu. SELECT: open the map menu or cycle Deck sort order. In Deck/Trunk, Up/Down scrolls, holding R jumps by 50 Trunk cards or 10 Deck cards, Left returns a selected card to the Trunk and Right adds one to the Deck.
