X bombs clear nearby threats and briefly protect the user, with B pickups restoring the stock. Unlike Out Zone’s steadily falling energy supply, movement is not driven by that energy bar. Learn the selected mercenary’s coverage at the first panel before choosing a special weapon, then keep away from obstacles and stage edges as well as enemy shots.
