How to Play Adventures of Tom Sawyer

Quick start

Choose one or two players, then move right while throwing rocks with B before enemies enter Tom's space. Use A early for pits and raised platforms; the jump arc offers little room for a last-second correction. Grab the slingshot icon whenever possible, since its longer and faster shot makes the next sections safer. Collect reachable T signs toward the twenty-sign extra life, but avoid skulls that remove ten. On raft stages, use Up and Down as well as Left and Right to stay clear of whirlpools. Pause with Start if you need to read the next obstacle pattern.

Controls

D-Pad Left/Right: move Tom or Huck; Up/Down: move vertically on the Mississippi and climb ladders. A: jump. B: throw rocks or fire the slingshot after collecting its icon. Start: begin and pause/unpause. Select can confirm the player-count and start/continue choices on menus. Two-player mode is alternating and timed, not simultaneous co-op.

Adventures of Tom Sawyer — About this game

The Adventures of Tom Sawyer is a colorful NES action game framed as Tom's classroom dream. Its trip down the Mississippi alternates conventional side-scrolling stages with raft movement and ladder-filled areas. Tom normally throws short-range rocks, but a slingshot icon improves both reach and speed. Collecting twenty T signs awards an extra life, while a skull removes ten signs, adding a risk-reward layer to the route. In the two-player option, Tom and Huck take separate turns and the faster completion time decides the winner rather than placing both characters on screen together.
