How to Play Airwolf
Quick start
Press Start, study the mission map, and head toward the nearest prisoner site. Use Start and Select to adjust speed, slowing well before the site so you do not fly past it. Shoot incoming threats with A and use B missiles on tougher targets. During the landing view, dodge towers with left/right and tap up to soften the descent. Rescue all marked prisoners, visit a friendly base whenever fuel, damage, or missiles become dangerous, then fly to the border to finish the mission.
Controls
In flight, the D-pad turns Airwolf left/right and changes altitude with up/down. A fires the machine gun; B fires Sea King missiles. Start increases speed and Select decreases it; press Start+Select together to pause, then Start to resume. On landing screens, use left/right to avoid towers and mountain tops and tap up to slow the descent. These are the Beam Software/Acclaim NES controls, not the controls of the Japanese horizontal shooter.
Airwolf — About this game
Acclaim's Airwolf is a cockpit-view helicopter combat game developed by Beam Software, distinct from the Japanese side-scrolling release. Each mission asks you to read the map, manage speed and altitude, shoot down aircraft and missiles, then slow down over marked sites for a landing sequence. Every prisoner must be rescued before the border will complete the mission. Friendly bases repair damage, refill fuel, and replenish missiles, making route planning and timely resupply more important than simply holding the fire buttons.
