How to Play Airwolf
Quick start
Begin with Start and use the map to choose a short route to a prisoner site. Adjust altitude with the D-pad and reduce speed with Select well before the landing marker. A's machine gun is the dependable answer to incoming fire; spend B missiles when heavier targets block the route. On the landing screen, steer around towers and tap up to reduce descent. If fuel, missiles, or damage become critical, land at a friendly base before attempting the next rescue.
Controls
During flight, left/right turns Airwolf and up/down changes altitude. A fires the machine gun and B fires Sea King missiles. Start raises airspeed; Select lowers it. Press Start and Select together to pause, then Start to continue. On landing screens, steer left/right around obstacles and gently tap up to slow the descent. The Japanese Airwolf cartridge is a different game and uses a different layout.
Airwolf — About this game
The North American Airwolf for NES is Beam Software's cockpit-view combat mission, published by Acclaim. Enemy fighters and missiles pressure you while fuel, damage, ammunition, airspeed, and altitude all demand attention. Prisoner camps require a controlled approach followed by a separate landing sequence, and every hostage on the map must be collected before an exit at the border counts. Friendly airfields restore the helicopter and its missile supply, so an efficient route between camps, bases, and the border is the central challenge.
