How to Play Corvette ZR-1 Challenge
Quick start
Choose one or two racers, enter a name, and select an opponent. Before the drag-race light turns green, shift into first gear; accelerate with A when it changes, briefly release A to shift up, then press A again. Avoid potholes rather than forcing a perfect line. On the road section, steer smoothly and brake with B before traffic or sharp hazards. Because shifting while holding the accelerator does not work reliably, build a rhythm of release, tap up or down, and reapply A.
Controls
Left/right steers. To shift up or down, release A first, press up or down, then hold A again. A accelerates and B brakes; collisions and leaving the road can also force an automatic downshift. Start pauses during a race and confirms setup screens; A also confirms many menu choices. Select has no driving function. The same controls apply to the European Corvette ZR-1 Challenge title and the US Race America release.
Corvette ZR-1 Challenge — About this game
The European edition of Alex DeMeo's Race America is titled Corvette ZR-1 Challenge. One or two players compete in red-versus-blue races on a cross-country route, with each leg opening as a side-view drag race before moving into a split-screen road section. You must accelerate, shift manually, steer around potholes and traffic, and brake for hazards while trying to stay ahead of a rival. The route links American cities from Boston toward Los Angeles, turning a simple two-button racer into a test of clean starts and timely gear changes.
