How to Play Alfred Chicken
Quick start
Start by learning the jump: tap A for a low hop and hold it for more height. Pop the visible balloons while checking suspicious walls, doorways, and side routes for the stage's Jam and Watering Can. Press Down in the air to dive-bomb enemies and switches. Save the final balloon until you have searched the area, because it ends the normal exploration portion of the stage.
Controls
Left/Right moves; Up enters a doorway or swims up; Down pecks on the ground, dive-bombs during a fall, or swims down. A jumps, gives extra lift from springs, and can slow Alfred's descent when held. B uses bombs after a Pot of Jam has been found and fires the heavy shot in Meka-Chicken fights. Start starts the game and pauses or resumes it.
Alfred Chicken — About this game
The US NES version of Alfred Chicken is an exploratory platform game spanning five stages. Progress requires popping every balloon, with the last one opening the route to a bonus area or boss encounter. Alfred can peck objects beneath him, dive through enemies, swim, and gain extra height from springs. The first four stages each conceal a Pot of Jam that enables bomb attacks and a Watering Can tied to the complete ending, rewarding careful searches rather than a straight run to the exit.
