Quick start
- Start and choose one of the three music tracks.
- Select low gear for the launch, accelerate, then change to high as speed builds.
- Steer around traffic and reduce speed before a bend becomes too tight.
- Choose a branch at each fork and reach the next checkpoint before the timer reaches zero.
Controls
- Steering wheel: turn left and right.
- Accelerator pedal: accelerate. Brake pedal: slow the car.
- Gear lever: choose low or high gear.
- During music selection, steering left or right changes the selected track.
Out Run (sitdown/upright, Rev A) — About this game
Out Run (sitdown/upright, Rev A) turns a timed road trip into a series of decisions at speed. You drive a red sports car through changing scenery, steering around civilian traffic and roadside obstacles while trying to reach the next checkpoint before time runs out. A fork near the end of a section lets you choose the following road, so repeated journeys can lead through different landscapes and toward different final destinations. The original cabinet uses steering, accelerator and brake pedals, and a two-position gear lever rather than a complex transmission. Smooth driving matters because collisions and trips onto the roadside consume the time you need for the next section. Before departing you also select a piece of music, setting the mood of the run. The challenge is to preserve momentum through bends and traffic while choosing which branch to explore next.
