How to Play Shinobi (set 5, System 16B) (unprotected)

Quick start

Learn Attack, Jump and movement between the floors.
Defeat a hostage guard and collect the rescue.
Search for every required hostage before moving to the boss.
Save the single ninjutsu use for a dangerous situation.

Controls

Attack throws shuriken at range or uses a close strike. Jump with Up or Down moves between floors. Diagonal Down allows a crouching walk. The third action activates ninjutsu once per stage; certain rescues upgrade the projectile and close weapon.

Shinobi sends Joe Musashi through layered enemy positions to rescue kidnapped children. His attack changes with distance, combining thrown shuriken with close strikes; certain rescues strengthen it into a gun and katana. The three-button layout adds Jump and a once-per-stage ninjutsu action, while holding Up or Down during a jump moves between floors. Rescuing every required hostage opens the route to the mission’s boss. Learn the two-level movement before using magic to clear a dangerous encounter, since an early use spends the stage’s single emergency technique.
