How to Play Arkanoid
Quick start
Select one or two players, launch the ball and learn how contact near either edge of Vaus changes its angle. Prioritize control capsules such as Slow, Expand or Catch while learning; do not grab every falling capsule because it replaces the previous effect. Ignore gold walls, hit silver walls repeatedly and keep watching the paddle while firing lasers. Save the Warp capsule for a layout that is costing lives rather than taking it automatically.
Controls
Standard pad: Left/Right moves Vaus; A launches the ball, releases a caught ball and fires lasers; B is unused. SELECT chooses one or two players, and START begins or pauses. Vaus controller: turn the knob to move left or right and press its fire button to launch or shoot. The NES manual places the Vaus controller in controller port 2 and the standard pad in port 1.
Arkanoid — About this game
Arkanoid expands Breakout into a 33-round NES challenge starring the paddle-like spacecraft Vaus. Each round mixes ordinary colored walls with silver blocks that need repeated hits, indestructible gold walls and drifting enemies that alter the ball's path. Destroyed walls may release a capsule, but taking one usually replaces the current power: options include a wider Vaus, slower ball, three-way split, catch-and-release, lasers, a warp exit and an extra life. The final round replaces the wall layout with the fortress Doh, which fires back and must be struck repeatedly. The cartridge supports the rotary Vaus controller for precise movement as well as a standard NES pad.
