How to Play Barbie
Quick start
Move right through the mall but test suspicious B-marked blocks with Down and collect B icons to restore the Z-shaped life meter. Press SELECT to choose the charm effect needed by the nearby animal, then throw with B; holding B sends the charm farther and releasing it drops the charm. Use A for deliberate jumps and wait for moving hazards before crossing. Later themes change which animals help, so watch their position before choosing an effect.
Controls
D-Pad moves Barbie and Down can activate certain hidden B blocks. A jumps. B throws a bracelet charm upward at an angle; hold B for a longer path and release to make it drop. SELECT cycles the charm's animal-command effect, and START pauses. Match the selected effect to the animal and obstacle instead of treating the charm only as a projectile.
Barbie — About this game
Barbie for NES begins when Barbie falls asleep while planning an outing with Ken and enters a sequence of themed dreams. Side-scrolling stages move through a shopping mall, an underwater world and a 1950s-style soda shop, ending with the goal of choosing an outfit and meeting Ken. Barbie jumps over animated household objects and throws bracelet charms along a controllable arc. SELECT changes what the charm asks a nearby animal to do, allowing dogs, toucans, dolphins and other helpers to remove hazards or create a route without conventional combat. Collectible B icons restore dream energy or grant temporary protection, and hidden blocks reward checking platforms rather than only moving right.
