How to Play Baseball Stars

Quick start

Play one exhibition with a preset team to learn batting, pitching and base throws. Then create a balanced club and enter a short league. Spend early winnings on one reliable starting pitcher and the middle of the batting order instead of spreading funds thinly. At bat, adjust position and swing with A; use conservative base running until you know each player's speed. In the field, move under the ball's shadow and select the destination base before the catch.

Controls

D-Pad navigates menus, moves batters and fielders, shapes pitches and selects bases. A confirms, swings, pitches, throws and sends runners back. B cancels menus, advances or steals with runners, opens the pick-off screen and tags. Base directions are Right first, Up second, Left third and Down home. START begins and pauses; press A during a time-out for substitutions. SELECT is unused in play.

Baseball Stars — About this game

Baseball Stars lets the player act as owner, manager and athlete. Alongside quick games with preset clubs, it supports original teams with a chosen speciality, name, logo and uniform. Created rosters can hire, fire and trade players, then spend winnings to improve batting, running, fielding and pitching ratings. Leagues contain one to six teams and up to twenty-five games, with standings and individual statistics preserved by the cartridge. On the field, batters reposition and time swings, runners can advance or retreat independently, pitchers select fast, slow and curved deliveries, and fielders chase the ball's shadow before choosing a base. This record covers the Japanese cartridge, whose core NES play matches the documented release.
