How to Play Baseball Stars
Quick start
Begin with an exhibition using a preset team. Practise moving in the batter's box, swinging with A and throwing to bases with the diamond-shaped D-Pad directions. Next, create a balanced team and choose a short league. Direct the first winnings to a dependable pitcher and two strong hitters. Advance runners only when the ball is safely through, and on defence move under the ball's shadow before committing to a throw.
Controls
D-Pad selects menus, positions batters and fielders, shapes pitches and points to bases. A confirms, swings, pitches, throws and returns runners. B cancels, advances runners, steals, opens pick-off controls and tags. Right selects first base, Up second, Left third and Down home. START starts and pauses; while paused, A opens player-change options. SELECT is not used during gameplay.
Baseball Stars — About this game
SNK's North American Baseball Stars combines responsive baseball with unusually detailed team ownership. Players can use preset clubs or create an original team by selecting its strength, name, logo and colours. Wins generate money that can be spent on player development, and created teams can hire, release and trade athletes. A league may contain up to six teams and run for as many as twenty-five games while storing standings and statistics. Matches include manual batting, bunting, individual base running, steals, four pitch directions, pick-offs, dives and throws to each base. Because roster growth carries across games, choosing where to invest is as important as executing the next pitch.
