How to Play RoboWarrior

Quick start

On the first stationary screen, drop a bomb with B and retreat before its one-second fuse expires. Shoot with A and move methodically to the right, bombing likely blocks before they scroll away. Do not leave the area without the chalice; near the far edge, expose the key and use the exit that appears in the upper-right. Select an energy capsule from the sub-screen before the meter becomes critical, and save medals for powers needed in later regions.

Controls

D-pad moves ZED and selects inventory powers. A fires the beam in action and activates a chosen power after returning from the menu. B releases a bomb; on the sub-screen B cancels. SELECT opens or closes the sub-screen and can confirm a power. START starts and pauses. Bombs use inventory, explode after about one second and affect only the nearby block-sized area.

RoboWarrior — About this game

The US RoboWarrior is Jaleco's release of Hudson and Aicom's Bomber King. ZED moves through eight regions of Altile on screens that generally scroll only forward. His beam handles enemies, while a limited stock of bombs destroys terrain, reveals items and opens underground areas—but the blast can severely injure him. Energy steadily falls with time and damage. Standard rounds also require a concealed chalice and a far-side key before the upper-right exit appears, making exploration, inventory management and route memory as important as shooting.
