How to Play BurgerTime

Quick start

Use SELECT on the title screen to choose a solo or alternating two-player game, then press START. Take a route toward the upper burger layers first and let falling ingredients do part of the work. Watch the ladder behind you before committing to an edge platform. If a pursuer steps onto a nearly finished layer, complete it to make the enemy fall with it. Save pepper for blocked routes and approach bonus items only when you have a safe way out.

Controls

Left/right: walk. Up/down: climb ladders. A and B: each uses pepper. SELECT: title-screen player selection. START: begin or pause/resume. Walk over every section of an ingredient to drop it; there is no jump command.

BurgerTime — About this game

The North American NES release of BurgerTime puts Peter Pepper in charge of assembling enormous burgers while animated food closes in. Crossing every section of a bun or filling makes that layer fall, potentially knocking down more ingredients beneath it. Enemies can be crushed under a falling layer or carried down when caught standing on it. Both action buttons dispense the same limited pepper, which stuns a nearby pursuer long enough to escape. Bonus food provides points and an extra pepper use. Success comes from finishing all the burgers without getting cornered, and the two-player mode alternates turns.
